Here's what you need:

1 cup  apple cider
1/4 cup  maple syrup -- real - not artificial
2 tablespoons  vegetable oil
2 tablespoons  soy sauce
2 star anise

1 cinnamon stick
6 garlic clove -- unpeeled
1/2 teaspoon  red pepper flakes
8 pork spareribs
6 chicken thighs -- with skin and bone

Here's how to make it:

Mix together apple cider, maple syrup, vegetable oil and soy sauce. Add star anise, cinnamon stick, garlic and red pepper flakes.

In a large freezer bag, combine pork and chicken. Pour in apple cider mixture, seal bag and refrigerate overnight or up to 2 days.

Remove marinated mixture from refrigerator and heat oven to 400. Pour contents of bag into large roasting pan. Turn chicken pieces skin side up.

Roast until chicken is opaque and ribs are tender, about and hour and 15 minutes. About 35 minutes into roasting, turn the ribs, but leave the chicken side up.
